Shashi Kapoor passes away

Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passed away today in Mumbai. The actor was admitted to Kokilaben Ambani hospital yesterday evening for suspected chest infection. Kapoor is believed to have breathed his last today. He was 79.
The tragic news was confirmed by Randhir Kapoor. “Shashi saab has expired,” confirmed Randhir Kapoor.
Born in Calcutta in 1938, Shashi Kapoor was a prolific actor who appeared in numerous Hindi blockbusters and a few English language films as well. Kapoor made his debut as a leading man in 1961 with Dharmputra and went on to appear in 116 Hindi films.  In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan and with Dadasaheb Phalke Award jn 2014  making him the third member of his family to receive the highest award in Indian cinema.
Kapoor was married to Jennifer Kendal and is survived by two sons Karan and Kunal and daughter Sanjana. The funeral is expected to be held in Mumbai shortly.
Shashi Kapoor’s demise is indeed a big loss to the Indian film fraternity.
