Death threats on family and daughter forced Anurag Kashyap to quit twitter.

Anurag kashyap never backed out from openly expressing criticism against the government on twitter. But now things have come to a halt when Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has quit twitter as his parents and daughter started receiving death threats.

Anurag Kashyap deleted his twitter account with a the last tweet at 9.30 pm stating, “When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk. There isn’t going to be reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India & hope you all thrive.”

“This would be my last tweet as I leave Twitter. When I won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear, I would rather not speak at all,” He further added.

Anurag is one of the personalities who jointly wrote an open letter to PM Narendra Modi over Mob Lynching and Intolerance In the nation.

Anurag had earlier shared a screen grab of a person threatening his daughter over his tweet tagging Narendra Modi for the victory in the elections. He filed an FIR against the person and thanked everyone with the following tweet, “Anyway, I want to thank @MumbaiPolice @MahaCyber1 @Brijeshbsingh for helping me with filing the FIR. Thank you so much for the amazing support and starting the process .Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis and thank you @narendramodi Sir. As a father I am more secure now.”

There has been mixed response to his decision. Some continued to troll him while others mainly his fans want him to get back on twitter.
