Revisiting my favourite horror film- The Conjuring 2

By: Sarah Hodekar

Horror movies are not everyone’s cup of te . What is a good horror movie? According to me, it’s the one that gets stuck inside your head, leaves you perplexed, dumbfounded and sends chills running down your spine. A movie which can give you a sense of discomfort and too many sleepless nights. One such movie which had that effect on me was The Conjuring 2 (2016).

Directed by James Wan, the story revolves around Edward and Lorraine Warren, a couple who are known for their spiritual practice of exterminating demons and evil forces. In 1977, the couple take some time off to travel to Enfield, north London. There they meet Peggy Hodgson, a single mother of 4 . One of her daughters Janet, was a problem child. She showed signs of weird and extreme behaviour and used to get compulsive sometimes. Lorraine with her exceptional supernatural powers comes to find out that her body was possessed by the spirit of a man called Bill Wilkins. The local authorities and Police get in touch with the Hodgsons to see if it’s some kind of demonic possession or just a hoax. Can the exorcist couple help the poor girl out with their mystic powers and restore the peace of the family again? To find the answer, you have to watch the film only if you aren’t fainthearted.

The movie is a sequel to The Conjuring, released in 2013. However, you don’t need to watch the first part to comprehend the story. Although, it’s not as scary as the former but the fact that it’s based on the life of a true person makes it nerve-racking. Demonic possession is indeed horrifying and the contradicting pictures at the end of movie is enough to make you leap out of your chair and give you chills.
