Revisiting My Favourite Horror film – The Conjuring
By: Nikhita Iyer
The Conjuring is a 2013 horror film by James Wan about a family that moves into a haunted house and having frightening experiences with the paranormal that eventually leads them to seek help from a demonologist couple, Ed and Lorraine.
The film is a gripping real life story smartly crafted which makes it a rather terrifying movie-watching experience; a kind that every film of this genre should offer. There are several jump-scares, spine chilling moments, scenes that will leave your jaws hanging and bits that will make you hair stand by giving you the creeps.
The sweet, full of life and loving Perron family consisting of a mother, father and their beautiful five daughters is gorgeously portrayed and enacted. Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren plays an apt role of the caring, brave and determined woman who is a mother herself. Patrick Wilson, who is seen in numerous other horror films has perfectly executed the character of Ed, one who is protective of Lorraine and just as courageous and equally intent on saving the family from the horrible events they are having to go through.
This movie is an appropriate watch for all horror movie lovers and might also be a good start for someone who wants to try delving into this type of cinema.
