Ghost Lab Review : An Entertaining Peek into the World of Ghosts

By: Pritish Murgan

Ghost Lab is a Thai Film that recently released on Netflix and it stars Thanapob Leeratanakachorn and Paris Intarakomalyasut in leading roles. Directed by Paween Purijitpanya, the movie has Wee (Thanapob Leeratanakachorn) and Gla (Paris Intarakomalyasut) as two young doctors employed in a hospital who encounter a ghost while working during late hours. Enamoured by the existence of ghosts, they set out on a journey to prove if there is life after death. The first half revolves around how these two boys research and draw conclusions from their studies. The film follows a light hearted tone initially but soon turns into a full fledged psychological thriller.

The initial setup might make you feel that it’s going to be another one of those typical horror films but the film consistently surprises you with its twists. The film asks a lot of philosophical questions like does life exist after death and if it does, can we communicate with it?

The actors essaying the roles of Wee and Gla have done a commendable job playing enthusiastic doctors who soon go crazy with their experiments. The cinematography and the production design are top notch and really add to the mood of the film. The stunt choreography is smooth and the action set pieces are very precisely designed. This is a high concept movie and it is common for such movies to start with a bang and slowly fizzle out in the end but this film manages to keep the audience hooked from the first frame till the last.

Ghost Lab is the perfect movie for people who look for something more in a horror film than just the usual jump scares!
