Even 70 lakh Indian Army cannot defeat Kashmiris, Arundhati Roy’s statement that angered Paresh Rawal

Ever since Paresh Rawal tweeted “Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep tie up Arundhati Roy,” I have been wondering what is it that Arundhati Roy said in recent times that made Rawal see red. And it appears it was this quote apparently given to Islamabad Times by Roy that attracted Rawal’s ire.

Islamabad Times writes, “Speaking during her visit to Srinagar, she said India cannot achieve its objective in the occupied valley even if its army deployment raises from 7 lakh to 70 lakh, further adding that Kashmiris have remained committed with their anti-India sentiments from many years.”

While I don’t endorse Rawal’s words and neither do I support Roy for that matter, what I am doubtful about is whether Roy indeed spoke these words. No I am not trying to defend Roy. I am not a fan. But I have strong doubts about the veracity of this quote. Was she misquoted. After all, Islamabad Times has published her name as Arundhati Rai.
