Another Round review- Simple yet deep

By: Marita Pinto

Academy award winning film ‘Another Round’ showcases a very different story yet is very interesting and emotionally deep. This Thomas Vinterberg directorial revolves around the story of four friends who are teachers at the same school and are facing issues in their professional and personal lives. While they set out for a dinner one day they decide on experimenting and testing themselves on day drinking alcohol everyday based on the theory of a certain Norwegian psychiatrist.

The protagonist Martin played by BAFTA Award Nominee Madison Mikkelsen and his three friends start day drinking on their working hours. They see behavioural changes and improvement in their relationships with their students and their families. With the increasing amount of alcohol everyday they seem to have best time of their lives. While everyone knows there’s always a downside to overdrinking, the four bestfriends binge drink one day and the events that takes place after it is what makes the movie a must watch.

‘Another Round’ not only focuses on the issue of day drinking but has also perfectly portrayed the bond between these four middle aged men who encourage and support each other. Hands down to Madds Mikkelsen whose terrific and amazing acting will help you connect with the story more deeply.

The best part of the film arrives when Madds Mikkelsen breaks into a dance at the end of the movie. His moves and grooves will make you fall in love with him. The rest of the star cast including Magnus Millang, Thomas Larsen and Lars Ranthe are are also equally brilliant in the film.
