On 4 August, Friday, R Balki directorial Ghoomer had it’s trailer launch event at PVR Juhu, Mumbai. The entire cast along with the director were present. Abhishek Bachchan, Sayami Kher, Angad Bedi and R Balki had an interactive session with the media and answered their questions. After the screening of the trailer, there was a question and answer session, the reporters asking questions would also get a cricket ball signed by AB himself and the one asking the most interesting question was presented a trophy.

Talking about Ghoomer’s journey, Balki said “ I think, anything that I say would be lesser than the journey itself. It’s been an incredible experience to put in the kind of effort, and seeing her do that, I’d say I haven’t seen anyone put in that kind of effort. Because firstly, She’s a sports person and it actually makes her task more easier and to have to do the whole thing with one hand is an incredible achievement”. He also mentioned that the climax of the movie is as exciting as that of the action packed movie- Gadar. There has been no portrayal of sympathy to her plight throughout the film. She had to put in twice as much the effort to achieve her dreams. Abhishek said his family had enjoyed the trailer though they are yet to watch the film. A reporter also mentioned about Amitabh Bachchan’s support for his son which AB was not aware about it but was glad to hear it. Amitabh Bachchan already expressed his support for his son’s upcoming release on Twitter when the motion posters for the movie were published. The following was what he wrote: “Bhaiyu.. my love and wishes for GHOOMER.. seen a few shots and it is amazing how you change and adapt characters in tune with the subject of the film.. my prayers and wishes always.. love.” It’s interesting to note that Senior Bachchan is also included in the film in a cameo role.

The actors also shared their views and personal experiences on the film and how it had affected them, the kind of preparation they had to do to get in the character. The actor revealed that he had to train  with Rohan Gavaskar so that he looks natural left handed spinner. Abhishek revealed, “The character I played Paddy sir is an ex Indian Cricketer and he’s a left arm spin bowler. Although, I’m a leftie, weirdly, I bat with my right. I’m ambidextrous. I bowl with my right hand and write with my left hand”.

They also unamimously described Balki as a maverick and has his ways of doing things. At the end of the event, entire star cast posed for pictures and also clicked selfies with fans. Ghoomer is all set to release in theatres on 18th August.
