Pankaj Tripathi expresses his disappointment with Censor Board’s A-rating for OMG 2

OMG 2, starring Yami Gautam, Pankaj Tripathi, and Akshay Kumar, will be released in theaters on Friday, August 11. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has rated the film A (Adults Only) after 27 cuts. The film’s compelling story of a middle-class family headed by Pankaj centers on the importance of sex education for teenagers.

Pankaj expressed his reaction to the film certification and said he was startled and, to some extent, dissatisfied by the rating while promoting the movie with the media. “We were shocked when we received an A grade. This is due to the fact that when creating a movie like Gangs Of Wasseypur, hume pata chal jaata hai ki A certificate milega ya nahi. We anticipated that it would receive an Adults Only certificate while we were creating it. However, we didn’t anticipate it would receive such a rating when we were filming OMG 2. He continued by expressing his dissatisfaction,  “Iss film ko A milna, surprise tha humare liye. Thoda malaal hua ki jis age-group ko yeh film dekhni chaiye, 12-17 saal ke, woh nahi dekh payenge”

Pankaj recommended that there should be a category between U/A and A in CBFC while praising the UAE 12+ Censor clearance. “I think we should have something between U/A and A category. Pankaj is hopeful that Censor Board will evolve. “Just like Censor has brought Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill into the act. Hopefully, they also bring a few changes in Censor certification.” However, Pankaj clearly told, he has no issue with the certification and Board members, “Afsoos yehi hai ki jinko dekhni chaiye film, woh nahi dekh payenge. For the unversed, in Dubai, UAE, the film has been passed with a 12+ censor certificate with no cuts.

The film is starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam will release on August 11.
