Saif Ali Khan 53rd Birthday Special
By: Priyal Joshi
Saif Ali Khan turned 53 today. The actor has established himself with characters that best represented his boy-next-door charm. Saif’s portrayal of lovestruck-playboy roles in successful box office hits like Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Hum Tum (2004), and Parineeta (2005) typecast him as the stereotypical chocolate boy and given him the reputation of being a bankable star. While Saif experimented and delved into other characters, such as the one in Sriram Raghavan’s amazing movie Ek Hasina Thi (2004), it did more for Urmila Matondkar’s career than it did for his own. Saif didn’t take long to break out of this mold, and his portrayal as Omkara (2006)’s main antagonist, Ishwar “Langda” Tyagi, was a turning point. The audience’s opinion of his acting versatility was changed by his gruff appearance in the movie. Following Omkara’s box office success, Saif’s efforts to shed the image was apparent. Even if his experiments did not always yield box office successes, they did show his commitment to a variety of character possibilities.
Kareena Kapoor Khantook to Instagram recently and posted a heartfelt message for Saif Ali Khan which has stolen the hearts of the audience. Kareena mentioned how Saif has selected the picture himself and pours out her heart in the message. She says “He chose the picture I could post on Instagram…even though he’s in front of me smiling away…and why not?it’s his birthday…May you always be this relaxed my jaan. Happy Birthday to my Ultimate Lover…(red heart emoticons) There truly is no one like you …Kind ,Generous,Crazy …ok I can go on writing all day …but gotta go eat Cake…”The picture shared looks like that from their vacation and Kareena and Saif are seen in swimwear. Their adorable bond and the milestones they’ve shared make this birthday wish all the more touching. Sara also shared a couple of pictures from inside the celebrations where she was seen with Ibrahim, Jeh, Taimur, Saif and Kareena. “Happiest Birthday to my dearest Abba,” she wrote in the caption.
On the professional front, he has Devara and the sequel to Go Goa Gone on the list.
