I have always preferred acting over journalism, says debutant Rohit Bhatnagar

Rohit Bhatnagar, who is gearing up for his acting debut with director Syed Ahmad Afzal’s next film Baaraat Company, has been a senior journalist. In a span of eight long years, he was a RJ, VJ and worked with reputed production houses but acting has been always on his cards since childhood. The journalist turned actor hails from Lucknow and later moved to Delhi for his higher studies.

Debutante Rohit says, “I always wanted to act on big screen. I used to be a part of street theatres in Delhi. In school too, I always used to dance and act in the functions. Later, I realized that I have a special love for camera. I used to host segments for several music channels and web portals in Mumbai but never really put efforts in acting for celluloid. Primarily, I have always preferred acting over journalism Director Afzal is my close friend and I am very fond of his work. When I told him about my passion for acting, he asked me give audition for a role he wrote. I gave the screen test and he liked it. I believe life is unpredictable and achievements are destined. Certain things will happen at their own pace.”

Rohit Bhatnagar, who hails originally from Lucknow shot his debut film in his homeland. It is just a mere co-incidence that he gave his first shot of the film in the city he belongs. It was an emotional moment for him when his parents made a surprise visit on the sets and met the entire cast and crew. The actor was in tears of joy seeing his folks witnessing the shooting of the film.

An excited Rohit says, “It was like a dream come true for me. I never thought that I will start my film career from my own city Lucknow. When my director Afzal narrated me the story, I was happy that my debut film is set in Lucknow. My parents surprised me by making their quick visit on the sets while I was shooting an important scene for the film. What else I could ask for. I made them meet my entire cast and crew.”

Directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal, Baaraat Company is a socio rom-com set in the backdrop of Lucknow. The film is slated to release on April 14th, 2017.
