Salman Khan plays a charming underdog turned hero in Tubelight

Who doesn’t love the story of an underdog turning hero? Salman Khan’s upcoming next, Tubelight too seemingly catches on the same narrative. In the just released teaser, one can see Salman exuding all the charming traits of an underdog who is both loved but also may be unfortunately ridiculed for well being a slow starter and hence the name ‘Tubelight’. From running into an army camp saluting soldiers while having a pair of shoes coiled around his neck to being hit on his rear by a Chinese kid who uses a catapult to complete the deed(remember how Salman aimed at Madhur’s rear with a rose in Hum Aapke Hai Koun) to standing a wee bit helplessly in front of a soldier in his vest and shorts, Salman plays the underdog to the hilt.

Ofcourse, all that is slated to change as Salman as he prophetically announces belief is like Tubelight which turns on slowly but when it does ultimately it shines in all directions.

The movie opens with sequences of war where an announcer with All India Radio break the news of scores of Indian soldiers being martyred in the war. Surprsingly, the news reader doesn’t name the country that has attacked India and only refers to the opposition as ‘dushman’. Perhaps director Kabir Khan wants to play it safe by not mentioning China.

The war sequences look well-shot. However the teaser beinga quick one there is very little to savour. We don’t exactly get a glimpse of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and it seems one will only get to see SRK’s full cameo when the film releases.

There are already reports that Tubelight is a remake of the 2015 Hollywood film Little Boy. Directed by Kabir Khan, Tubelight will release on Eid in India and worldwide.
