Happy that my role in Breathe:Into The Shadows has been appreciated: Gunit Cour

Young, bold and beautiful, Gunit Cour comes across as a talented, confident and determined actor on screen. Her acting in Breathe: Into the Shadows as young Natasha was a testament to this fact. What’s however interesting to note is the way she landed the role in Breathe season 2.

Reveals Gunit, “I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra’s team in 2018 and they informed me that they would like to test me for Breathe season 2. Since I was not in Mumbai, I sent them my introduction video and pictures. Out of the blue one day I got a call from Chhabra’s team asking me to reach Nainital in 2 days. I was surprised because I had no idea that I was selected in the first place. Then I flew to Nainital and signed the contract on sets and did the look test there. I got the script on sets as well.”

Not the one to be bogged down by surprises, Gunit did her rehearsals on sets and shot for her entire part that of young Natasha in under 10 days. Describing her shoot experience, Gunit says, “The entire shoot was a great experience. The weather was freezing cold during our shoot. I shot for 10 days. At the age of 21 getting to play a 16 year old was exhilarating. I got to meet Abhishek bachchan and Amit Sadh for a brief while on sets and it was a starstruck moment for me.”

Ever since the release of the web series, Gunit’s Instagram inbox has been filled with congratulatory messages. “I am happy that my character has been appreciated and well received. The response I have been getting from the general public is overwhelming. I am thankful to Mukesh Chhabra’s company and director Mayank sir for the opportunity. I hope this opens doors for more good work in future,” says Gunit.

For someone who is not an industry kid, Gunit admits the journey of an actor is replete with challenges. But the young actor believes in keeping her craft alive even when there is no acting assignment in hand. ” As an actor you have to keep working on your craft and make sure you keep honing your skills in your free time. Also when staying away from your hometown it is important to keep your family and friends close,’ emphasizes Gunit.

On her work wishlist is a host of directors like Shonali Bose, Anurag Kashyap and Mira Nair. “I want to work with Shonali Bose. Kalki’s role in Margarita with a Straw is a role that I really liked. I like playing challenging roles like Rani Mukerji’s character in Black, Radhika Apte’s character in Parched or Sayami Kher’s character in Choked.”
