Ajeeb Daastaans – Two bad stories and two good ones

Ajeeb Daastans is an anthology film consisting of four short films. The first one starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Fatima Sana Shaikh is bad. The second film starring Nushrat Bharucha is very bad. The third film starring Konkona Sen Sharma is immensely watchable because of the brilliant performance of Konkona. The fourth film is the best of the lot starring Shefali Shah and Manav Kaul. These powerhouse performers have hit it out of the park with their powerful acting and expressions. The climax of this short film is especially worth watch as it creates a conflict in the minds of viewers as to who to support – Shefali or Manav.

Konkona is a class act as Bharati Mandal in her short film titled Gilli Puchchi. The director Neeraj has tried to explore gender and caste issues and succeeds to a certain extent but the film majorly drags and is rendered an average fare owing to the average acting capablities of Aditi Rao Hydari whose voice sounds like a schoolgoing girl.

Jaideep Ahlawat and Nushrat’s films have boring and illogical and vulgar stories on display which rather than impressing only evokes disguts. Also Nushrat plays a maid(bai) but dresses up like Savita Bhabhi designed to seduce. Rwally whch bai dresses up like that.

Overall Ajeeb Daastaans should be watched for the third and fourth film only.
