Revisiting Peaky Blinders

As fans are still waiting for season 6 of ‘Peaky Blinders’, the official account just released a series of behind the scene photos of Cillian Murphy who is the lead of the series. As we wait in eager anticipation for next season, let’s revisit the series once again.

‘Peaky Blinders’ is a British period crime series created by Steven Knight. The story is set in the early 20th century, Birmingham, England. The Shelby family of small heath, Birmingham is the crime lord of the city and also called peaky blinders, hence the name of the series.

The series timeline revolves around events after World War I. Hence one can find the important events of the 1900s mentioned in earlier seasons. For instance, the financial crisis of 1929 greatly impacts the plotline of season 5.

Thomas Shelby, who is our lead and protagonist of the series, is an ex-soldier who participated in World War I, and now wants to fulfill his ambitions for himself and his family. The reason why the series is so popular is because of the efforts of Steven Knight to make it as realistic as possible. For instance, a small part of Birmingham is transformed into the entire set for the show, and instead of using the VFX, real guns and gunshots are used. Another reason is the casting of popular actors like Cillian Murphy (Tommy Shelby), Tom Hardy (Alfie Solomons) Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), and recently deceased actress Helen McCrory (Polly Grey).

Though these actors are famous for their iconic personalities, they seamlessly got into the skin of the characters in the series literally living and breathing life into the series thereby doing complete justice. One can expect to experience the early 20th-century British culture, fashion, and environment also while watching the series.

Meanwhile the shooting of season 6 began on Jan 18, this year, and recently Cillian Murphy announced that the shoot is about to end which means fans can expect to see season 6 early next year.
