Oppenheimer crosses 50 crore mark at Boxoffice

Christopher Nolan directed Oppenheimer had a theatrical release across globe on Friday, 21 July. It was predicted to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Despite facing tough competition from Gerwig’s Barbie, which released on the same day. The film has now crossed the 50 crore mark. The film is well received by the audiences but many also felt slightly disappointed with Nolan’s work. Despite this, the film is a commercial success. Oppenheimer was a highly anticipated movie all over, specially by Indian viewers. The Nolan film had 21.07% English occupancy on its first weekday. The film had opened with Rs 14.5 crore on Friday, which was followed by Rs 17 cr on Saturday and Rs 17.25 cr on Sunday. With this, the film’s total collection in India stands at Rs 55.75 cr. It had no major competition from Bollywood as well. So, people had fewer options to choose from. The release date being such that, many went to watch the movie during the weekend due to the hype created.

Oppenheimer is a historical drama that narrates the story of the American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and how he became the father of the atomic bomb. The film has Cillian Murphy in the titular role and Emily Blunt plays the role of his wife. Robert Downey Jr also plays a pivotal role in the movie.
