Nineteen years. That’s how long Emraan Hashmi fans have waited for this moment. Tomorrow, August 6, at exactly 11:11 AM, the trailer of Awarapan 2 finally arrives — and the countdown has already sent social media into a frenzy.
For an entire generation, Awarapan (2007) was never just a film. Mohit Suri’s cult classic about Shivam Pandit — a gangster wrestling with faith, love, and redemption — became something fans carried with them long after the credits rolled. Its music still plays on loop, its dialogues are still quoted, and Shivam remains one of the most beloved characters Emraan Hashmi has ever played. Which is exactly why the announcement of a sequel felt less like film news and more like a homecoming.
The teaser, released in late June, gave fans their first glimpse of an older, wearier Shivam — a man haunted by grief and searching for purpose. It closed with a line that has been echoing across fan pages ever since: “Is baar yeh awarapan khatam hoga, yaa main.” If the teaser could stir up that much emotion in under two minutes, the full trailer promises to be an event in itself.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner, Awarapan 2 brings Emraan Hashmi back as Shivam Pandit, joined by Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Aniruddh Rawal, and Atul Kumar. And true to the franchise’s soul, the music is in serious hands — Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik, and Akhil Sachdeva have composed the soundtrack, with tracks like “Ve Junoon,” “Yeh Awarapan,” and a reimagined “Toh Phir Aao” already winning hearts. Hashmi himself has promised the album will remind audiences of the era when his films defined Bollywood music.
